President: Jay Margolis, DVM
Dr. Jay Margolis graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989. He completed an internship in companion animal medicine and surgery at the Veterinary Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Margolis practiced companion animal medicine and surgery in Pennsylvania until joining the Northern Virginia Veterinary Associates (Centreville Square Animal Hospital) in 1992. In 2000, he became a partner in the Chantilly Animal Hospital. Dr. Margolis is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association and the Northern Virginia Veterinary Medical Association, currently serving as President. Dr. Margolis is a member of the Board of Directors of the Emergency Veterinary Clinic of Northern Virginia.
When not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife, 2 daughters and their dog, Sophie. He enjoys golf and playing basketball.
Vice President: Rieko Tran BVSc
Dr. Tran graduated from Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, Japan in 1994. She attended North Carolina State University from 1995-1997, where she completed her clinical rotation to obtain her ECFVG certificate.
She lives in Dale City area with her husband, a daughter, two German Shepherds and two cats.
Treasurer: Michele Kelly, DVM
Dr Kelly graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a BS in Chemistry. She began working on a masters degree in conservation biology and Florida International University when she became very interested in the medical fieldwork associated with studying wildlife. She graduated from veterinary school at the University of Florida in 2002. Her special interests include small animal internal medicine, dermatology and exotic animal medicine. Dr. Kelly externed at the Louisville Zoo and the Santa Barbara Zoo. She has three children, three dogs and one Guinea pig.
When not at work, Dr. Kelly enjoys spending time with her family, yoga, and working out at the gym. Husband, Bill, is a rock-climbing instructor and rock gym manager who enjoys getting the family outside and back to nature. We enjoy hiking, going to the kids soccer, basketball, and baseball games.
Secretary: Dan Teich, DVM
Dr. Teich, a resident of Arlington, Virginia, is an Associate Veterinarian at the Dupont Veterinary Clinic in Northwest Washington, DC, and is also licensed in Virginia. He graduated from the Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine in June, 2003 and then completed six months of a rotating small animal internship in Northern Virginia. Post internship, Dr. Teich worked with the American Veterinary Medical Association’s Governmental Relations Division to help forward the AVMA’s legislative agenda. Then he was a research consultant for the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges before joining the Dupont Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Teich shares his bed with a large Golden Retriever named Jacob and he enjoys outdoor activities, city life and the political scene. |
